Safety Tips
Check in with the nurse to make sure your loved one has received all of their medications and are having a good day before engaging in exercise.  They should be able to talk comfortably during this activity. Please stop if you notice any changes in breathing or colour of if they demonstrate signs of pain.Â

Sit in a firm, supportive chair
â do not sit on a walker or bed
â ď¸ sit all the way back
â both feet flat on floor
Â
If using a wheelchair:
â ď¸ both feet on foot-pedals or flat on floorÂ
â brakes on

Work within their range
â Never pull or forcefully move a limb
â ď¸ Reduce the intensity by:
- using smaller muscle groups such as arms
- smaller movements, less reaching
- slower movements, move at their pace
If itâs difficult to use a particular limb, then focus on the ones that still have mobility
Any kind of movement is good!

Remember to keep breathingÂ
Â
Encourage breath in through the nose...
đ¸ like you are smelling the flowers
Â
Out through the mouth...
đ like you are blowing out birthday candles
